OMG ive had this song in my head all day but didnt think they were actually saying "debaser". it sounded like debaser, but it doesnt sound like a word that has any meaning so i didnt bother searching that term

pixies and dino jr came out around the same time (i think). both were grunge before there was a such thing as grunge, and heavily infleunced the seattle scene of the early to mid 90s.

I see what you're saying, but the Pixies just weren't grunge. Not even 'proto-grunge'. And if Nirvana said they hated the Pixies, no one would even think to associate them with grunge.

point taken. i should not have said the pixies were grunge. i am not a music historian, and in many ways i hate the labels put on music. my 7 year old often asks if a song he likes is _________ or _________. i tell him it's music and if he likes it he likes it, period. all i know is i was in high school when i first heard the pixies and i knew i had never heard anything like it. i found it mesmerizing. a few years later i heard nirvana and could tell they were influenced by the pixies.

Kurt was heavily influenced by the Pixies & the rift in this great song Smells Like A Really Well known song.
However, Kurt NEVER denied this & he was extremely creative in his own right & achieved the commercial break through that sadly the Pixies didn't quite manage. The Pixies deserved rich reward & recognition for their true brilliance & are much more appreciated by a new generation than my own.
Probably the most under-rated band in my lifetime.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I never knew who the pixies were until I got into Indie rock. Now they are my favorite band, but no-one else knows who they are or have even heard of them.
Although most people will recognise the intro to their song "here comes your man" because, come on, who hasnt heard that song.

True i live in the uk and only people who really no there music no about the pixies but when i went to oz every one knows who they are they are one of my fav bands as well
