I don't think this video was meant to be funny. It is meant to portray emotion. Listen to the lyrics from the perspective of the woman singing them. The tone that Alanis sings them with makes it a great cover.

ahhw I didn't really like the BEP version of this, but this is even worse. It sounds okay if you don't consider the lyrics, but I think she just didn't get it in it's right meaning. I guess Fergie or whoever wrote the song wanted to tell about body-selling in some kind of sarcastic way, as the (female) vocalist knows about the sad fact guys are affected by physical attributs. But she exploits it, not sings about it sadly.
