now i understand why people never had vinyl disc burners haha. Nevermind.
I've always believed that the vinyl disc has a lot of more sound fidelity as the original sound is being recorded there. Unfortunately, dirt and such particles mess up the sound. A friend o'mine's dad had a turntable with regulated needle weight and a brush on the needle. All those crackles were not heard and the vinyl sounded like a CD!

Does anyone know where to get 7" records pressed?

So cool to see that big Scully lathe. I didn't realize Ron had been around the music business for so long.

Hey Guys, very cool you documented Ron! You never think of the importance of documenting things, until it is too late. I had the pleasure of watching Ron cut a record for me at his place, and it came out fantastic! Is there any place you can have a lacquer cut in D-town now?

That Scully appears to be a late 1930's model 501. The gear box was a key to dating it.

I really appreciate your video explaining the LP cutting/pressing process. Thanks for taking the time to make such an enlightening and entertaining documentary.
Most audiophile record labels use R.T.I. (Record Technology, inc.) in Camarillo, CA. It would be worth checking them out for your pressing needs.

This may be a dumb ... ( 3 weeks ago by kmpkingshorse)
This may be a dumb question, but are the quality of vinyls made today "better" than the ones made back then?
I am looking to get into vinyl, and saw some made in 2008 so the question comes to mind.
Vinyl has changed ... ( 3 weeks ago by 2007TypeR)
Vinyl has changed very little. In fact most of the vinyl lathes are very very old. My local cutting house has a lathe from the 60s. What has changed though is the quality of the music, the recording, mastering etc... So the quality might appear better but the vinyl today is the same as the vinyl 50 years ago.
