I can't find anything good on this version for some reason... he sings with no feeling in my opinion. Don't know why. I believe it's just taste but I'm the "Buckley-liker"... so much passion...
Oh but the best version imo is the one from myles kennedy.. so beautifully sung

buckley plays this song in a totally different style, he makes it into a softer piece with quiet strumming on the guitar while wainwright sings it out, both are great versions of the song and both sung with equal passion, just made to sound different

Wain right sings with emotion from chord one, and yes he hammers the piano keys. The Buckly guys claim a deeper layer of emotional depth. I don't get it. I've listened to Cohen and Buckluy a dozen times. If there's emotion there I don't see see it. Maybe you prefer the instrument , but the singing is won by Wainwright. Dave

I think Buckley sings with more emotion too. Rufus has emotion too but it's more over the whole song and not stressed in certain key places. Buckley really pulls out the emotions on the certain parts of the song that I think require it to win the "emotion" contest. I'm not saying buckley sings the rest of the song emotionless either. I love the piano. And the guitar. What I've said was based on singing not instrument preference.
