I think that some equipment is necessary, esp. for creativity. Look at how much gear you used. You might think "everybody has this gear nowadays", but that's not true.
Also... creativity depends on adequate equipment and the skills to use it. Imagination is unbounded, but imagination without creativity is just daydreaming.

not creating it.
Being creative involves changing the shared world, rather than just you internal, imaginary nation.

well when you think about it if someone achieves something using just basic items that would usually be overlooked for that specific use then that would be more creative than using technological equipment to achieve the same effect. I guess it all depends on the persons perception of the term "creativity" to what it means.

I think the point is that the very video we just watched wouldn't have gotten to us without a certain amount of equipment. Some is necessary. Also, there's something to be said for brainstorming on paper rather than in the mind. Look up "extended cognition" for research into this subject, it's interesting stuff.
Love the vid,though. I hope it encourages more people do do creative things. :)

that's awesome an awesome way to illustrate creativity...
i find... i get the best ideas when i have very small pieces of things to write on... like a candy wrapper or a napkin or those tiny post-it notes

When im thinking of an idea to put onto canvas I generally think up a story line then storyboard it (as though im making a film) then sketch out my favourite part in full and paint it :P

I sometimes start with any random object and then ask "what if" a few times till im happy.
.
And each time change the concept.
Like what if it were made of string or what if it was inside out etc..
.
I find its kick starts the old mental image generator. :)

yeah, but some people are so hung up on what they've been told is 'the only reality' are shocked that taking the anxiety off free thought-actually opens your eyes to how much people get MAD if you HAVE a new idea...
suddenly, you realize *gasp* these people are fucking clueless: how did they convince me that consumerism/FauxNooze cookie-cutter interpretations were the ONLY reality?
hell, some people NEED BigPharma just to tamp down that voice in their head that says, "wow, something is WRONG"
