5.56 is an armour-piercing round, genius, its not a joke at all. Its high impact is imparted due to high speed, while I also believe that its low mass prevents it from exiting a body if shot (less unintended casualties). force= mass x velocity....you know, that math that the other kids were studying while you were at home eating paint-chips? But you're probably right, and I have no idea why the military isn't consulting experts like yourself.

that is a ballistic THEORY. Obviously you are just a brainwashed tool, the military is already working on getting 6.8mm ammo for the 5.56mm problem that has been around since its introduction. Its good that 5.56mm is suited to full auto, because in real life, it takes 3 or more rounds to put someone down with it, not counting a headshot.

Actually, it's not an armor-piercing round. It penetrates less than the standard military rounds that came before it, significantly.
It's fast and light -- that combination makes it a horrible manstopper. It might be accurate, but it'll go right through a guy and leave a wimpy wound.
Finally, the military doesn't use the best weapons -- they use the ones they already have, ones they acquired for good politics, or the cheapest ones. Did you know our M16s are made in Belgium? Hm...
